2003 Pontiac Race Recap

After a three-week break, the tour will, once again, make its annual stop at beautiful Pontiac Lake State Park in Waterford, Michigan, on June 26 - 27, for Round 3 & 4 of the 2004 US Grand National Watercross Championships. Riders look forward to coming to Pontiac because of the nice facilities at this beautiful State Park.  Pontiac has plenty of sandy beach area, and Camping.  Nice Restrooms, make this a great place to camp, mainly because of the infamous Rider Party on Saturday Night at the Race Site.  Many Canadian’s make the trip to Pontiac year after year, which makes for some great Racing Action as well.  In 2003, there was some great racing action with 175 riders attending from West Virginia, Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania, and Canada and from all over the Midwest.  Many Canadian's made the trip to Pontiac making the racing action even hotter.

Another big hit last year will again take place this year on Friday Night June 25th. Indy Al & Lil Al’s 3rd Annual Crawfish Blowout will be in full swing.  Feast your appetite on 120 lbs of Live Crawfish from Nawlins.  Last year’s Event was a big hit for all the riders, Families, and Friends.  There were 200 people in attendance to enjoy the great food of this pitch-in Dinner.  Several Riders brought food, and appetizers, which provided some good eating.  Four picnic tables full of Spicy Cajun Crawfish were piled high for hours that evening giving those in attendance plenty of food.  This was a great time for all, as many socialized throughout the evening while enjoying some delicious food & beverages prior to a Great Weekend of Racing.

Everybody is Invited to this Special Pitch-In Friday Night.  If your last name is between A-J, bring a Salad or Appetizer.  If you name is between K-S, bring a Side Dish.  If your name is between T-Z, bring a Desert.  Check out last year’s Crawfish Blowout Video by Jamie Deer at  http://www.watercross.com/crawfish.wmv (4.2 mg).  For more Information, Contact Indy Al at (317) 490-2564, or send him a email at amjetski@aol.com

The water conditions at Pontiac is rough and unpredictable year after year.  The large about of boat traffic on the lake makes the water rough and grueling especially during the 15-20 lap Moto's.  There is no flat water racing at Pontiac.

Pontiac Lake State Park is located 30 minutes northwest of Detroit and is a hot spot of watercraft owners and racers. This site is regarded by many people, as the best site on tour.  There is plenty of sandy beach area that is manicured and the park is beautiful.  Many Canadian’s make the trip to Pontiac year after year, which makes for some great Racing Action as well.

This site has played host to an IJSBA National Tour stop three times and will be the 3rd & 4th events this year. The water conditions are choppy and fast and very similar to what racers will experience at the World Championships. For all you Expert Ski riders, and log jump will be set up to add some excitement to the racing and entertain the spectators.  Visit our Pictures and Video Section of the website, and see Pictures and Video from the 2003 Season.
