Special Feature - Rider Interview

distinctly remember at Billy Marr’s Shootout in September you had that ski rippin.  Your SXR was running strong that weekend.  What has contributed to you getting that kind of speed out of your SXR?

BM:  The new SXR is such an awesome boat! I instantly fell in love with it when I first rode it. Initially, I was reluctant to switch to the Kawi because of my invested interested in Yamaha. After my string of bad luck I began to part out my Yamaha and gradually buy Superstock parts for the SXR.

In the meantime I was having a blast on a Stock SXR. That’s one of the many great things about that ski it’s a great ride Stock and as a Superstock!

My friend Jerry Schmidt had been offering to help me build a Superstock for sometime. He made the switch to the SXR’s early in ’03 and was building some fast, reliable motors. I gave up on the idea of sending my motors out West to have them built because of not having any real support/tech advice once I had them running. Jerry went out of his way to help get me back on a reliable Superstock.  Jerry did all the porting, ignition set-up and some other go-fast goodies.
